FLOWARTES
Brazilian Arts in Movement
Our aim at FLOWARTES is to bring a tiny slice of Brazil to the community. To showcase the different facets of Brazilian culture, to raise understanding and appreciation of its rich diversity.
We offer classes in movement disciplines that are uniquely Brazilian, such as Capoeira, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Maculelê. Our fitness and movement classes incorporate these for a fresh twist on HIIT. Join us and check out what we’re all about!

Originally from Bahia, Brazil, Silvano Santos (Contramestre Tucum) has 30 years of experience instructing Capoeira classes for all ages in Brazil and Southeast Asia. He actively runs his own business, Flowartes, and partners with other organisations to teach, perform and promote Capoeira in various institutions and events across the region. His belief in the benefits of Capoeira towards a healthy and holistic lifestyle has motivated and inspired hundreds of students to take up interest.
Silvano started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2012 training under the tutelage of Alexsandro “Leke” Machado. He is currently a brown belt and has been teaching the martial art for over 7 years. In 2021, Flowartes became an official Checkmat affiliate. Armed with this versatile and multidisciplinary approach, he also conducts MMA programs for schools and tertiary institutions, including schools for students with special needs.
Instrutor Teiú has trained with Contramestre Tucum since 2006 (with Capoeira Argola de Ouro under Mestre Ousado). He obtained his Instructor certification in 2015, and has been assisting and instructing Capoeira classes for both children and adults in Singapore since 2011. Under Flowartes Capoeira, Instrutor Teiú assists Contramestre Tucum in promoting the martial art; teaching and performing at local schools, community centers and various events in Singapore. He believes that Capoeira is physically and holistically beneficial, and hopes to inspire more people to take up Capoeira as fun way to a healthier lifestyle.
Born and bred in Singapore, Faiz (Instrutor Rato do Mato) joined Association of Capoeira Arte Canarana (formerly known as Capoeira Argola de Ouro), and has been training with Mestre Ousado and Contramestre Tucum since 2004. Currently, you can find him teaching with Flowartes under the leadership of Contramestre Tucum.
He obtained his Instructor certification in 2017, and has 5 years of experience in assisting and instructing Capoeira classes for adults in Singapore.
Not only does he help to promote Capoeira locally through various performances and events right here in Singapore, Rato also has had a chance of performing in overseas event in Beijing and Hong Kong. He believes that through Capoeira we can see a way of life: how to face yourself, understanding how people respond to you, and learning to allow others to show who they really are as a person. Rato also hopes more people take up Capoeira as a fun way to keep oneself healthy and fit.
